Cartoon D'or

t.o.m. has been nominated for one of 5 finalists for the Cartoon D'or 2007, out of 28 award winning films put forward by 10 top European Festivals, 5 finalists are chosen to be judged at the Cartoon Forum, where the award is presented.

Free flights and hotel and passes to the Forum!

Cartoon D'or

Up against, Aardman's new short "The Pierce sisters", which is amazing, Susie Templetons "Peter and the Wolf" with a cracking 1 million price production, and 2 other films (one other a student too) so not much chance there. But I am looking forward to the 4 day holiday. I held Joanna's 2006 D'or, it is a very nice trophy, if not a bit too light.

Annecy 2007

When we set out to make "t. o. m." we really wanted a film that would suit Annecy, and set out with that in mind, so it was a very proud moment when I opened the "L'officiel" this year and turned to page 192...

Winning Best Graduation Film was just plain weird, especially after hearing the results for the 3 Student awards and our name not hearing our name, we had no idea what was going on with all the nerves and that odd french language that everything was in. We forgot to order orange juice on the stage to pour of vodka into, best beer I ever drank though, even if it was warm, and the seats made out of lights, that didn't help with the old sweat patches :)

Round Up

I had the very odd experience of being spun around in a fairground ride for 6 hours for an animate! film RoundUp, fun though, despite meeting outside the Hippodrome in Bristol and getting 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' sounds stuck in my head all day

Royal Television Society Student Awards 2006

Dan and I at the Royal Television Society Student Awards 2006, Winners of the Best Undergraduate Film award, a delightful wording from the judges:

".... a very short, beautifully drawn animation with a really very haunting story, of quite some psychological depth. It..s an unusual, indeed singular piece of work that stays in one..s memory. The sensitivity of the art work, the strange, vaguely Asperger's syndrome fastidiousness of the voice-over and the quite startling ending suggest a pair of film makers who really have a lot to say for themselves...." Aspen Shortsfest

2 Days later, Dan left me to go off again by myself to Aspen Shortsfest, Colorado. Amazing scenery and one of my all time favorite festivals, t.o.m. received the Jury Award, and a nice trophy star.
